Make the Most of your Tradeshow Displays – The 10’ by 10’
In this series of posts, beginning today, we are going to look at the various types of display spaces which are available at trade shows and offer specific advice about how to really make the most of your available space. Today we are looking at what is probably the most commonly used space which is the 10’ by 10’ Inline space. This space usually makes up the majority of displays in any trade show and are lined up in rows where each space will have other exhibitors on 3 sides (aside from the corner exhibits at the ends of each row).
As the most common size available, there are going to be a lot of others with similar spaces so it is vital that your display is professional looking and stands out from the others. If you simply populate your space with basic furniture such as a table and some banners, it is likely that you will be overshadowed by competitors and therefore overlooked by visitors.
Start with a full display backdrop
As well as defining your space and covering the display behind yours, a full and well designed backdrop is the key to an eyecatching display. The 10’ “wall” at the back of your stand is prime branding space and should be used fully – it is the most visible space in your entire stand. Consider options such as full size graphics, backlighting and spotlighting to ensure you are seen.
Your Floorspace
An important space that is sometimes forgotten. An attractive floor can draw people in as well as defining your space and making it seem bigger than it is. Planning your floorspace is extremely important as it is limited. How many staff will you have there and where will they be? Can they have a conversation or demo a product to a potential client without being crowded? This leads on to…
Furniture and fittings
First and foremost, be practical about your furniture and fittings. Don’t overcrowd your space as ultimately, you want your space to be filled with people, not furniture. That said, it can be necessary to have a place to lean for writing things down, to demo a product or even to take a hot lead to, for a more professional conversation. A small backdrop-mounted counter can be the ideal solution for writing but for having a conversation over, something more substantial like an attractive counter with pedestal will be needed. Ensure that on the day, staff know to stay away from these areas unless they are using them and are not leaning on them with elbows as it looks like they are bored – who wants to talk to a bored salesperson?
